| Q.
What are varicose veins? A. Varicose veins are veins that have experienced a breakdown in the return pump valve, which in turn triggers subsequent swelling so extensive that blood circulation through them becomes impossible. Once a vein becomes varicose, it is no longer functional in terms of blood flow for the benefit of the body's circulatory system. |
Q.
Will treating varicose veins help the way my legs feel? A. Absolutely! Most patients notice a dramatic improvement after only a few treatments. |
| Q.
How can varicose and spider veins be removed without surgery? A. Sclerotherapy is the non-surgical answer. A specialized medical team uses a small gauge needle to inject saline solution directly into the non-working vein. This process backwashes the blood pooled in the vein. The walls of the vein then stick together causing it to collapse. The remains of the vein are then absorbed through the body naturally. |
Q.
Will surgery be required to remove my varicose veins? A. The majority of patients will only need injections! In some cases, however, a more advanced treatment method known as Ultrasound Guidance Sclerotherapy may be recommended. In even fewer cases, a combined treatment consisting of surgery and sclerotherapy will be required. |
